Important:

Make sure you follow your hospital's infection control standard.

Subject:

Disinfecting of Specimen radiography equipment after contact with blood or other infectious materials.

Purpose:

To disinfect equipment.

Guidelines:

  1. Isopropyl Alcohol. Bleach wipes or bleach solutions can be used to clean and disinfect the equipment.
  2. Unplug the equipment prior to cleaning or disinfection.
  3. To sanitize: the equipment must remina visibly wet for 30 seconds and let surface dry.
  4. To disinfect after contamination: the equipment must remain visibly wet for 4 minutes and let surface dry.
  5. The magnification tray can be removed and cleaned using wipes or submersion in bleach solutions.
  6. After contamination, the disinfection of the equipment should be recorded on the Infection Control Log.
